February 26, 2010

Hello there,

Welcome to the revamped SEE Turtles Enewsletter!  This month, learn about a survey and contest where you can win fun prizes, join an Earthwatch Expedition at a discount, and take action to help loggerhead turtles.

Baja Survey - Win Cool Prizes

SEE Turtles is working with RED Sustainable Travel, a new community-based ecotourism operator in Mexico, to develop a market for sea turtle conservation tourism.  We are asking people to fill out a survey to help us with our marketing efforts.  It will only take 10 minutes and you will be eligible to win Endangered Species Chocolate, a children's book on turtles, or a beautiful recycled plastic handbag.  Click here to fill it out and thanks for your help!

Discount on Earthwatch Baja Turtle Expedition

Our friends at Earthwatch are offering a 10% discount on their "Tracking Baja's Black Turtles" Expedition, June 3 - 10, 2010.  This hands-on research project will visit Laguna San Ignacio to study these mysterious turtles.  Sign up by March 15th for a 10% discount.  More information here.

Test Your Ocean IQ and Win a Free Trip!

Our friends at Oceana have just launched a fun quiz on the oceans on their website.  Take the test and you are entered in a sweepstakes to win a free SEE Turtles trip to Baja, Costa Rica, or Trinidad, as well as other great prizes.

Learn About Turtle Life Cycles

We have added new pages on our website that detail the life stages of sea turtles.  Read about the fascinating challenges that hatchlings , juvenile turtles, and adults face in their struggle to survive.

Help Protect Turtles in the Gulf Of Mexico

The Fisheries Service of NOAA is proposing to reopen the deadly bottom longline fishery in the Gulf of Mexico, allowing up to 630 endangered loggerhead turtles to die in fishing nets over the next three years.  Help our partners at Sea Turtle Restoration Project by signing their petition against this action.  Comments are due by March 1st.

Your questions and comments are always welcome.
