This month learn what makes Trinidad's beaches special, come volunteer with a turtle project, and help save wildlife programs from drastic cuts. And don't forget to visit our new project SEEtheWILD.
Nowhere in the world do giant leatherback turtles nest like they do on the island of Trinidad in the southern Caribbean. Grande Riviere is the world's most densely nested beach, with as many as 500 turtles per night! Matura Beach has thousands of nests each year as well. Come witness this incredible abundance with one of these trips:
Trinidad's Wild Side: Turtle nesting, bird watching, hiking and more. From $2,250 pp. (March-July)
Leatherback Research: Join this Earthwatch volunteer expedition to help protect these turtles. $2,450 pp (March-July)
Ever wanted to see what the life of a wildlie biologist is like? Here is your chance. Turtle projects need your help to cover long stretches of nesting beaches. No training or language skills needed.
Volunteer On Your Own: Help a turtle project in Costa Rica, Mexico, or Guatemala. From $20/day for food and lodging.
Costa Rica's Leatherbacks: 2 nights of volunteering and then 3 days of exploring. $1,495 pp (*$100 discount available!)
