Hello there,

A lot happening this month in the world of sea turtles. In the middle of the bad news coming out of the Gulf of Mexico, SEE Turtles has a bit of good news to share and a trip to give away. Also, learn about an EarthWatch trip to Trinidad, how you can help in the Gulf, and get ready to follow us to Costa Rica!

$100,000 for Conservation & Communities

SEE Turtles is proud to announce that we have generated more than $100,000 for our conservation partners and turtle communities since our launch in 2008.  We have connected more than 200 people with turtle conservation projects in Costa Rica, Mexico, and Trinidad and our volunteers have completed more than 500 shifts protecting turtles.  To celebrate, we are giving away a free turtle trip to Costa Rica or Mexico.  Click here to share with your friends.

EarthWatch Expeditions to Trinidad

Trinidad is home to several of the world's most important leatherback turtle nesting beaches.  On this hands-on trip run by our friends at EarthWatch, you will visit Matura Beach and work with Nature Seekers to help protect and study this critically endangered creature.  Trips run through July and each trip generates $1,685 for Nature Seekers and the Matura community.  Find out more here.

Help Protect Ridleys from Oil & Fishing

I'm sure many of you are following the tragic news coming from the Gulf of Mexico.  That area is home to one of the most endangered of sea turtle species, the Kemp's Ridley .  These turtles have recovered from just a few hundred in the 80's to a few thousand now, but the oil spill and shrimp fisheries are pushing them back to the brink.  Help our friends at Sea Turtle Restoration Project call for a stronger recovery plan for these critically endangered turtles.

Live from Costa Rica

This June, SEE Turtles co-founder Brad Nahill will be live blogging from a trip to Costa Rica.  Over three weeks, we will visit turtle nesting beaches, explore indigenous reserves, snorkel coral reefs, and hike the rainforest.  Stay tuned to our blog and Facebook page for updates starting June 11th.
