Hello there,

Hope everyone is enjoying the outdoors during this hot summer.  This month, learn about upcoming volunteer and adventure trips, help turtles nesting in Texas, learn about volunteering with a turtle project, and read about how trawls and trash affect sea turtles.

Upcoming Turtle Volunteer & Adventure Tours

On your next vacation, participate in turtle conservation efforts and explore new destinations:

Protect Turtles from Speeding Vehicles in Texas

Speeding vehicles are one of the many threats faced by Kemp’s ridley turtles. There is a proposal to lower the speed limit at a key nesting beach. Help our friends at Sea Turtle Restoration Project reduce the speed limit on nesting beaches at Padre Island, TX.

Sea Turtle Volunteer Projects

Spend a week or a month working with local researchers to protect turtles and their hatchlings.  We set up volunteers with turtle projects in Costa Rica, Mexico, and elsewhere.  Learn about life as a volunteer here or inquire about current projects here.

Trawls & Trash: Two Turtle Threats

Learn about two growing threats to sea turtles, fishing gear and plastic waste, in Scientific American magazine.

Be sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter and contact us with any questions.
