Hello there,

We hope you have had a restful holiday.  This month, learn about a volunteering with leatherback turtle projects in Costa Rica, take action to reduce oil spills, and follow along as our co-founder Dr. Wallace J. Nichols rescues a turtle from a poacher's net in Baja.

Costa Rica Leatherback Volunteer Vacation

Costa Rica is one of the best places in the world to volunteer with a sea turtle conservation project.  Join a 5 day volunteer vacation to work with giant leatherback turtles on the Caribbean coast.  No training or Spanish needed!  Trips run from March to July and cost from $1,125 per person.  Learn more here.

See our full list of SEEtheWILD Wildlife Volunteer Trips.

Help Protect Turtles and Other Wildlife from Oil Spills

Think we learned anything from the BP oil spill?  A bipartisan commission has made recommendations to prevent future spills, take action here to urge Congress to adopt ways to improve government oversight of ocean drilling.

Black Turtles Are Back, So Are the Poachers

Follow our co-founder Dr. Wallace J. Nichols and conservation photographer Neil Osborne as they document the return of the black turtle in Mexico.  Read along on National Geographic.com as they return to an old research site with a poacher turned conservationist and find a net used to catch black turtles.

Happy New Years!  Have you joined us on Facebook and Twitter yet?
